Electric flux is the number of the electric field lines passing through the surface normally.

It is a scalar quantity. It is represented by φε

*Measurment— Electric flux passing through any surfs is the dot product of electric field intensity and the surface area. 

Thus the electric flux passing through the any small Plane surface is —

              dφε = E.ds cosθ

Taking surface integration of both side

          ∫∫dφε = ∫∫E·ds cosθ

              φε =  E·S COSθ
