Electric Current and Current density

# Electric Current:
the rate of flow of charge through any cross section of conductor is electric current is represented by I and it is a scalar quantity.

Electric Current= (Amount of charge)/Time

I = Q/t

S.I unit = coulomb/second (or) ampere “A”

# Definition of one ampere:
We know that, I = Q/t

Hence, 1ampere = 1coulomb/1second

“Definition”:
When one coulomb of charge flow through any cross section of a conductor in one second then the strength of the current is called one ampere.

2nd topic

# Current density:
The electrical current flows per unit area of cross section of a conductor is called current density at that point on the cross section area.  It is denoted by J.
It is vector quantity.

Current density= current/Area

J = I/A

S.I unit = ampere/m²

Dimension formula = [M^0L^-2T^0A]
